A problemática é entender como uma cidade que ocupa a sexta posição em arrecadação, tendo um dos maiores PIB (Produto Interno Bruto) do país, ser, ao mesmo tempo, uma das piores em IDH (Índice de Desenvolvimento Humano), que é o indexador da qualidade de vida de uma população. Tudo isso gera um antagonismo imensurável.
Há muito deixamos para trás o clichê de sermos uma cidade dormitório. Hoje geramos emprego e, implacavelmente, ajudamos o Estado do Rio de Janeiro a se desenvolver. Se nosso município tem crescido nas últimas décadas, por que esta mudança não se reflete, também, na qualidade de vida dos moradores caxiense?
Aqui estão instaladas grandes empresas, temos indubitavelmente, bons colégios e boas faculdades. Temos bons representes parlamentares, bons educadores, bons médicos, bons jornalistas, em suma, temos bons profissionais nas mais diversas áreas. Se temos recursos humanos, por que Duque de Caxias ocupa esta posição tão vergonhosa, e leva consigo o estigma de não cuidar bem do seu povo?
Uma mudança só vai ocorrer quando os que usam a cidade para ganhar a vida, vivam também aqui e vivenciem os nossos problemas, ou quando o dinheiro ganho aqui for gasto aqui também.
A população está se cansando daqueles que prometem uma parte da dentadura hoje, e a outra só depois das eleições, ou um pé do sapato agora, e outro depois. Queremos ser também uma cidade com grande qualidade de vida e humanizada. Potencial e recursos temos, só falta vontade política.
